Our Work : Crisis Intervention
Veena, a transgender activist under took a study for us around crisis situations faced by Sexual Minorities and Sex Workers. Crisis are incident that are traumatic, typically unpredictable and overwhelming for the person. The study highlighted that these communities face severe crisis situations in various contexts.. Such as at home from their family members or intimate partners or on the streets from the police. It has been observed that violence they face may have an impact on their mental health as well.
It therefor becomes essential to crisis management efforts
- Crisis intervention programs provide quick and appropriate response and also help build a sense of community.
- It boosts a sense of security, increases access to a range of human rights and entitlements, reduces violence, increases a sense of well being and improve access to justice.
- A sustained Crisis Management program would lead to a strong team to manage the programand documentation of their crisis and the interventions to enable organisation to learn from their experiences as well to use for push for policy changes with the governement and other agencies.
